  • The reason I focus on the 5 pillars of health, breathing, sleep, exercise, nutrition and the mind is that they are all foundational for good health and all very closely linked to each other. If you have poor sleep, you have poor cognitive function and you are likely to reach out for sugary or fatty foods and you are also less likely to exercise. Perhaps a busy, anxious mind is your limiting factor and contributes to poor health or you might be stuck in a poor diet and no physical activity cycle. Listening and learning about your habits is the foundation of my coaching approach. Let me help you identify and implement the most pleasant yet effective health interventions.

MY COACHING METHOD

  • Optimal breathing has immense health benefits and it is the easiest way to control our nervous system. When you breathe slow you’re sending a message to your brain that you are safe and your nervous system goes into the parasympathetic state, rest and digest. By breathing you can affect your cellular respiration and cell metabolism as well as cellular energy production. The better your cells produce energy, the more energy you have, so breathing is a fundamental part of our health. As an Oxygen Advantage breathing coach, I have the expertise to guide your path to better breathing with ease and lightness.

  • Sleep is everything! With poor sleep your body and brain do not function optimally, you need proper sleep to clean up your brain and sustain information. If you are sleeping well you are more likely to eat healthy and to exercise. In order to fix your sleep, we first need to find out what is hindering it, is it a busy mind, snoring or mouth breathing, the timing of your sleep, the environment, a late meal or a late workout, caffeine or alcohol intake to give a few examples. Once we have determined what is causing the lack or poor quality of sleep, we can work to change it, one easy step at a time.

  • To have a mind at peace is a great goal and perhaps more achievable than you thought. I have been a devoted student of Eckhart Tolle for almost 20 years as well as other spiritual teachers, such as Anthony De Mello. I like to put their teachings into practice as well as other mind management tools from experts in psychology. In order to have a calm mind, we need to become aware of it and learn how to break unhealthy thought patterns. Stress management is very important and a common topic these days, we need to teach the mind how to cope with stress, yes, by thinking, but also by learning to breathe in a way that calms down the nervous system.

  • From (an organic) farm to plate! I consider everything we consume as part of our diet, also what we are exposed to daily. Your body needs to process everything we put in or on it, so a holistic approach is necessary especially when dealing with chronic illness or fatigue. The only diet that works it the one you stay on, I do not assign short weight loss diets as as soon as you go back to normal eating the kilos come back, sometimes multiplied. It maybe interesting to experiment with a ketogenic diet, but for most people we will find a food plan that is to your taste and sustainable, with real foods. We also look at the times you eat, for some breakfast maybe the most important meal of the day while for others it makes sense to break the fast much later in the day.

  • Exercise and strength training is proven to be a huge factor in health and longevity. It may seem daunting to start and it does take some time to implement it to your routine in case it is new to you. I am here to help! With most people we are able to find a way to move that is fun or at least accessible and doable. I would love to help you find an activity that is fun, beneficial and joyful. What did you enjoy doing as a kid? Would you like to learn a new skill such as a handstand or getting up from the ground without using your hands? Would you like to improve your running, perhaps we can set a goal for a sprint of 60 meters, which would be an excellent strength training. I have most experience in sport and have many inventive ideas to get you moving without it feeling like a chore. Very happy to take on a challenge or support the more advanced athletes in training.
